My dad, myself and Uncle Charles
The nice thing about blogging on your personal website is that you are free to blog when you feel like it. You are also free to not blog when you don’t feel like it.
I have not blogged for a long time. I have been through hard times. Times are still hard. It is past midnight and you might still be awake like me. Asking God why does He allow hard stuff to hit us when we are not expecting them? Wondering what does the Bible mean when it says: God is good all the time?
I have been asking myself that question for three months now. For three months now, I have hardly slept through the nights. Last Monday was one of the hardest. I thought my heart could explode. My dear uncle left me tragically, suddenly, painfully.
I loved him so much. I love his wife so much. I love his kids so much, especially E.E and her beautiful hair! He has impacted my life so much. He is one of my dad’s few true friends. He is one of my dear uncles who had to say “yes” before I could move ahead when my hubby and I fell in love.
Tears are running down my face as I go through the pictures I have with him. Especially the last one. He was funny as usual, full of life and humor. Oh my uncle! How I will miss him!
Dear friend reading this and maybe suffering like I am tonight: please, let’s not give up. King Solomon said: two are better than one for they can sustain each other when times are hard. Dear friend, I need you to stand so I can stand. Let’s stand firm in the faith because we know that there are many families of believers throughout the world undergoing the same kind of sufferings we are going through (1 Peter 5:9).
There is something beautiful about the pain: you come out of it stronger when you surrender it to the cross. And I believe you and I will be stronger after this storm. Let’s just take it to the cross. Because the Cross, the symbol of God’s love is sovereign over us.
And even what the enemy means for evil, the Cross will turn it for our good (Genesis 50:20). In the dark valley, or in the green pasture, God is good all the time.
“Your plans are still to prosper.
You have not forgotten us
You’re with us in the fire and the storm
Faithfull forever, perfect in love
You are sovereign over us”. Michael W. Smith
